Gnomnit Dark for Windows 8 by neiio Gnomnit Dark for Windows 8 by neiio
My first dark themed VS for Windows 8! :)

This project is open source, so feel free to hack/mod/share to your hearts content.
Just as a courtesy please link back to the original work.

First of all we need to patch Windows 8 to use themes, here's the tool I used [link]
You can use whatever works for you.

Install the included fonts. (3 font choices, Segoe UI, Calibri & ubuntu)

Now once your PC is capable, place the theme files into Windows/Resources/Themes

Then go to your desktop and apply it as you would any other theme. It will be located under "Installed Themes".

This look great! The only problem I have is that it changes the colors for my suite of Office applications as well and now all my backgrounds are dark and I can't read anything.

Is there a fix for this?

How do you actually "create" the themes? I have Googled everywhere but there isn't one clear direction as to where I have to start looking.. I'm a graphic designer and wanted to create my own themes, any advice appreciated..

You need a program called Windows Style Builder (or Vista Style Builder, which supports Win7). You also need to search and update the Class Maps once you have the program. If you're wanting to build themes for Windows 8 or 8.1, you'll need to search for a newer version of WSB that supports those os versions.

(hint) If you're not opposed to torrents, I'd recommend searching for copies of the proggy that way too....

Help! The theme is not appearing on the ''installed'' themes place? help! Am running Windows 8.1
